ATV to remake "Reincarnated"

It was reported that broadcasting company ATV is planning to remake the popular '70s wuxia drama titled "Reincarnated".

As reported on HK Channel, sources claimed that with the competition from TVB and HKTV, the company plans to face the challenge by investing in and co-producing a remake of the 1979 hit drama series, which originally starred Norman Chui.

The 60-episode drama, which also introduced stars such as Lawrence Ng, Nora Miao, Ma Man Yee and Candice Yu, was the first drama to have been adapted from a wuxia novel.

According to Yip Ka Bo, the vice president of ATV, "A mainland Chinese production company went to an entertainment expo earlier this year and learned about ATV's older classic series. That's when then expressed their interest to adapt "Reincarnated"."

He continued, "It's going to be a co-production between us and the mainland company. The series will be filmed entirely in mainland, and we hope to stay as close to the original script as possible. The cast will be both from Hong Kong and mainland China."

The remake, scheduled to be broadcasted in 2014, will star Norman's son Edward Chui, who appeared in the "Triad" film, as Wan Fei Yeung, and actress Kristy Yang is still in talks to play the leading lady.
